I am Kristin B; the sole owner and founder of Naturally Naked Soaps. My soap is a labor of love! How the bubbly all began: Two years ago my mother was experiencing terrible skin problems on her hands & face. Her dermatologist among other changes suggested she throw out all of her cosmetics, soaps, & skin creams. Everything. Start fresh. When you want to start fresh; where do you start? I was daunted by the task of helping her buy new healthy products. What is healthy for the skin? What are the ingredients in the almost inteligible mile long ingredient lists? Does it even really matter what is in the stuff we put on our skin? After asking myself these questions I began a process of research and learning that continues today. I was disapointed to search the shelves at stores. Many products in the United States contain the over 2,000 ingredients that are banned in the European Union; even some of the "natural" & "organic" ones. And some of the ingredient lists are so long I'd need to sit down in the aisle with a magnifying glass to contemplate. Then during a recent trip to New York I was thrilled so find many natural soap options! I was sad to find out many are shipped all the way from Israel, Spain, and other countries; no wonder they charge $10 for a bar of soap. Then there are the mom n pop natural products that don't list what's in their proudcts at all or if they do their products are so boring & ugly I wouldn't buy them anyway! Frustrated, I decided I'm going to make my own products! They'll be affordable, beautifully handcrafted by me, locally made in the USA, & use natual quality ingredients people can read and understand. My products were an instant hit among my friends & family! I decided I may be onto something; let's make this a business. I started with one product. What single product do you use the most in one day? In the shower? washing your hands? Giving your child a bath? washing the dishes? washing clothes? SOAP!!! A great book that inspired me to move forward with my soap is "Not Just a Pretty Face: The Ugly Side of the Beauty Industry". I reccomend it for anyone; especially those interested in learning why they should choose natural & locally made products. |
